Upon assuming the role of Chief of Police in 2009, former Police Chief Frank Elsner made a commitment to the youth of Greater Sudbury through the formation of a Chief's Youth Advisory Council (CYAC).

Today, Chief Paul Pedersen continues to be a strong advocate and voice for Youth. He relies heavily on this  Council which is comprised of a cross section of youth from the City of Greater Sudbury ranging in ages from 15-23.

The  Council gives youth in Greater Sudbury a direct voice to the Police Chief and addresses community issues as well as strengthens the relationship between youth and Greater Sudbury Police Service. CYAC is achieving a stronger presence in the community through a variety of projects in partnership with the City of Greater Sudbury Youth Centres and Sudbury & District Health Unit.

Each year numerous activities and initiatives are undertaken by Greater Sudbury Police Service following through on this commitment.
