How long have you been policing? What unit were you in before you were a SRO?

I have been a police officer since 1986 – my assignments prior to being SRO included Crime Prevention, the Training Branch and Media Relations Officer.

What is your favourite part of being a youth officer?

People who work with youth have a great opportunity to impact our ‘next generation’ – I enjoy being in a position to pass on positive messaging and hopefully making a change in the high school students that I deal with.

What made you decide to become a police officer?

While teaching in Northern Ontario in the early 80’s, I did ride-alongs with members of the OPP and also worked as part-time jail guard for them. I soon realized that policing offered challenges like no other career I knew and it was a time when changing careers was feasible for me personally. I have never looked back nor regretted that decision.

What do you do in your spare time?

I enjoy pickerel fishing – there is no such thing as a bad day when I am in a boat on a lake. Maintaining / renovating my house also consumes a lot of my time but it is rewarding when it is all said and done.

Is there anything else we should know about you?

I teach part-time at Collège Boréal in the Police Foundations Program and have been doing so for 18 years.

How long have you been a police officer?
I have been with the Greater Sudbury Police Service since January 1991.
I started as an Auxiliary
Police Officer.

What is your favourite part of being a youth officer?
I love working with youth because of their optimistic view of the future. Their ideas and thoughts on the world are very inspiring and refreshing.

What made you decide to become a police officer?
I always felt a sense of duty to help people. Ever since I was in grade school, I felt for people who needed help; for example, seeing people being bullied upset me. I see my role not as an authority but a responsibility to the community I serve to make sure I treat my community fairly. I believe being patient is what makes a police officer an effective one.

What do you do in your spare time?
I enjoy teaching at the local college, traveling, coaching my daughter's soccer team, and hanging around with my best little friend - my 10-year-old daughter.

What are a few of your favourite things?
My favourite things are cool people who are positive!!!! I love motorbikes, four-wheeling, snow machines, and sport cars.

What is your favourite book?
'Man's Search for Meaning' by Viktor Frankl. A quote from page 86 is: "We are all free. FREE to choose our attitude towards any set of circumstances."

How long have you been a police officer?

I have been with the Greater Sudbury Police Service since December 1995.

I started as an Auxiliary Officer and a student on bikes and snow machines.

What is your favourite part of being a youth officer?

Working with the youth within our community.  Getting to see their point of view on things and working with them to have a better understanding of how our youth perceive things in today’s society.  Also showing them not to judge a person by their appearance – not all Police Officers are the same – just like not all youth are the same.

What made you decide to become a police officer?

I’ve always had a very strong opinion when it came to right and wrong.  I was always the one getting in trouble at school and later on in life because I stood up for what I believed in and stood up for those who couldn’t or wouldn’t stand up for themselves.

What do you do in your spare time?

I enjoy spending time with my family.  Writing and reading.  I’m an author with Limitless Publishing and my first two young adult science fiction fantasy novels “Awakenings” and “Revelations” have just been released!

What are a few of your favourite things?

My favourite things are my husband, kids, pet and reading and writing!  I love to be active also – four wheeling with my kids or walking with my family.

 What is your favourite book?

I love every book!  My favourite authors are Stephenie Meyer, Anne Rice, L.J Smith, P.C Cast and I have to say.
